De Haan Protocol:
Basic Rates, single dose: Hand held sprayer
2 ml GANTECGREEN™ EC / 2 gallons water / 500 sq. ft. growing area
Mist'R Drench Sprayer
150 ml GANTECGREEN EC / 100 gallons water / 40,000 to 43,560 sq. ft. growing area
Spray Plugs from Seed and all Cuttings until planted in final container
Tender plugs (4-7 Days after germination) one single dose, then start
Plugs over 10 days old and all cuttings
Spray single dose every seven days for three weeks then double dose the fourth week. Repeat this four week pattern until transplanted into final container.
A one time double dose can be sprayed after transplant, especially on varieties with a high rate of transplant shock; and varieties with a high mortality rate, e.g. snapdragons, should also be sprayed after transplant and then two and four weeks after transplant.
Spray all hanging baskets with a double dose just before hanging them up.
You can continue spraying GANTECGREEN all the way to shipping or treat your crop with your normal pesticide program after transplant.
If you encounter heavy insect or fungi problems inside the GANTECGREEN foliar spray program it is recommended to knock them down with pesticide, especially after April 1 in southwest Michigan when insect and fungi pressure increases, but continue with the GANTECGREEN program until transplant.
Cultural notes
Only spray a double dose one week before and one week after transplant on seed geraniums (for those buying in seed geranium plugs two double doses after transplant) and tuberous begonias as spraying more than this can excessively slow growth. (We trial single dose only in 2009)
Other
GANTECGREEN foliar spray is an approved organic product that is great for herbs. Maintenance products approved for herbs are few.
Re-entry is not a problem with GANTECGREEN as a plant enhancer strengthening young plants for better growth with shorter internodes, heftier stems, a higher flower count and larger flowers. GANTECGREEN foliar spray gave us a ‘clean’ greenhouse.
